For this 62,000 SF new build YMCA complex, MAPG played an integral role in the engineering and glazing design. Our team created customized solutions for optimal energy and engineering performance. We worked with our project partners to innovate solutions to alleviate glass breakage for increased safety in the high use pool and gym areas.
Our installation included a visually and technologically impressive 2-story hanging curtain wall. Spanning over 80 feet in length, it provides a stunning ‘wow’ feature to the front façade. It includes a 12″ depth custom cover cap providing a beautiful and seamless aesthetic, while also deflecting sunlight away from interior spaces.
The expansive new complex includes a grand multi-story lobby, wellness center, gym, cardio, upstairs track, exercise studios, multiple athletic fields and expanded pool with lap section and kid zone. This replacement to the former South County YMCA has a multi-generational design approach, and serves the fast-growing population of Frederick County.
