Indiana University of Pennsylvania Student Recreation Center
Indiana, PA
GC: PJ Dick Inc., Pittsburgh, PA
The $7.5 million IUP Student Center expansion project is a mixed use facility. The recreation/fitness center occupies floors 1 and 2, with student residences on the floors 3, 4 and 5.
Project components include:
- Oldcastle Building Envelope aluminum doors, storefronts
- Oldcastle Reliance curtainwalls
- Alucobond ACM panels fabricated by Royalton Architectural Fabrication
- Sunshade systems
The building contained a demarcation line between the 2nd and 3rd stories; which not only divided the intended usage of space, but also the owner and contractor. We were the only subcontractor who was able to successfully work with both GC’s since some of our work (curtainwalls) spanned the entire height of the building. This created multiple coordination issues in all facets of the project, in the office and in the field. Meeting these challenges directly contributed to the overall success of the project.
